Concrete posts are the absolute workhorses of the fencing world – they’re really strong, weather-resistant, and they last forever! They are a really popular choice for these reasons. If the look of your garden matters a lot to you though, timber posts feel a bit more organic for a garden setting. And if you’re worried about the durability, we always use pressure-treated wood to give it the best possible lifespan (around 15-20 years, or more with proper maintenance).

Of course! Painting your fence can make a huge difference to the look of your garden. Our only advice would be to let your new fence settle in for a season first. The pressure treatment we use needs time to cure, and this will ensure you get a beautiful, even finish when you do come to paint it. Make sure you use a paint that’s designed for exterior wood, and your fence will look amazing.

For a typical back garden, you can go up to 2 metres without needing to apply for planning permission. In most cases this is high enough to provide privacy and security. If you’re fencing a front garden, though, the height is generally restricted to 1 metre. As long as the fence is entirely on your side of the boundary, you are absolutely within your rights to put up a new fence without asking your neighbour’s permission.
